Shaista Malik, MD, PhD, MPH, FACC, is a recognized leader in integrative health and cardiology, advancing whole-person care in the largest integrative health programs in the country. As a cardiologist specializing in preventive cardiology and women’s heart disease, she has earned recognition as a Physician of Excellence by the Orange County Medical Association. Malik is recognized for her research and has received multiple National Institutes of Health grants, including a K23 career development award and several R01 awards. She serves as founding associate vice chancellor of integrative health at the UC Irvine Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences and founding executive director of the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute. Her leadership has been celebrated with honors including the 2025 American Heart Association Go Red for Women Orange County Woman of Impact, the 2024 Vision and Leadership Award from Octane, and “Woman of the Year” for Irvine in 2023. Malik earned undergraduate degree from Stanford University, medical degree from UCI, and completed residency and fellowship at UCI Medical Center. She holds an MPH and a PhD from UCLA.
