Sam Kamayns


Sam Kamyans is a partner in Akin Gump’s tax practice in Washington, D.C. Sam advises clients on federal income tax planning and negotiates key tax deal points in a wide array of transactions, with a particular focus on renewable energy infrastructure transactions. In addition, he has significant experience negotiating and advising domestic and international taxpayers on both the buy-side and sell-side of mergers and acquisitions. Sam brings a solutions-oriented approach that helps clients across the energy, private equity, and real estate industries structure and implement complex mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, equity extractions, internal restructurings, and public and private offerings.

Matthew Nesburn


Matthew Nesburn is a partner in Akin Gump’s global project finance practice in Los Angeles. He represents companies engaged in the development, construction, financing, acquisition and disposition of solar, wind and other energy projects, as well as corporate debt and equity investments and divestitures in the energy sector. He provides advice on project design and transaction structuring at every phase of project development and financing, from project inception to equity investment to construction and permanent financing, representing sponsors, equity investors and lenders. He also counsels clients on real estate aspects of the project development and finance transactions.
