Founded in 2015, Fort Amsterdam Capital (“FAC”) is a bridge lending platform that focuses on originating loans and notes for stressed and distressed multifamily and mixed-use properties in New York City. Since its inception, FAC has deployed in excess of $150MM of capital.
FAC is an affiliate of Sugar Hill Capital Partners (“SHCP”), an investment management and operations firm that acquires, repositions, and profitably exit middle-market multi-family buildings in New York City. Since its founding in 2008, SHCP has purchased close to 90 properties and subsequently sold nearly 60 turn-key properties. SHCP has raised approximately $600MM in equity capital and completed funds have yielded an average Net IRR of 20%
Founder & Managing Partner
David Schwartz is the Founder and Managing Partner of Fort Amsterdam Capital and co-founder of Sugar Hill Capital Partners. David has been involved in NYC multifamily real estate for over 12 years. Prior to co-founding SHCP, David was an Executive Director in the structured products group at Royal Bank of Scotland / ABN AMRO Bank, where his work included real estate securitizations. David also held positions at Dresdner Bank, Chemical Bank, Chase Securities, Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore, and National Westminster Bank in Tokyo. David holds an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University and a B.A. in Economics from George Washington University.
